Wow! It seems like it’s been a long time since I participated in an e-Learning Heroes challenge! Things have been pretty hectic around the office with so many projects going on. This week, the challenge was to share a construction-theme course starter template that contains at least six slides. Here is my take on this challenge, Course Starters: Construction Theme E-Learning Templates #183.
Using Articulate 360 and its awesome Content Library, I created this sample template. If you want to take it for a drive, go ahead and click the launch button.
If you want to learn more about what’s included behind the scenes, then continue reading.
Behind the Scenes
The title screen utilizes a simple text variable to capture the learner’s first name. For a little challenge, I also created a trigger to make sure the user typed something into the field provided. If the learner didn’t want to type anything, I created a separate variable to let them be known as Taylor for the remainder of the course. It seemed like a good gender-neutral name!
To make the course objectives more interactive, I used layers and triggers to create this look.
After reviewing the objectives, I designed a branching screen to support four modules as shown below. Variables were also created to track progress through each module and report when each was completed.
For each module, I created an intro screen.
This template also includes a variety of layouts and elements that will help you get started in creating your next construction theme course. These are only included in the first module but can easily be copied and customized in the remaining modules.
Congratulations! If you made it this far, feel free to download the Articulate 360 master file here. Thanks for stopping by!
