As I was browsing the Articulate community today, I came across an e-Learning challenge that piqued my interest. It’s titled, Get to Know Your E-Learning Community with Two Truths and a Lie. I’m sure we’ve all heard that honesty is the best policy but according to this article from Forbes, lying has proven psychological benefits. In fact, being too honest can make you appear anti-social! Well, call it lying, tact or social grace, the article sure makes for an interesting read. I have digressed from the original plan, so let’s turn this ship around and return to the challenge.
The goal of this challenge was for e-Learning designers to get to know each other by telling two truths and one lie.
For the look, I wanted something that had a special/secret agent feel. The goal is to find out if the perp is telling the truth or not, right?! I came across the X-Files font from dafont.com and used it for my demo. If you are not familiar with the X-Files, then read this. I also found a detective-looking guy standing in front of a brick wall. After turning this photograph from color to black/white, I had the look I was after.
Next, I had to come up with two truths and a lie. My goal was to find a few things that sounded just plausible enough to trick those who know me.
The Final Result
Here it is! Turn your speakers on (I’ve included some cool music backgrounds for each truth/lie) and let’s see how you do.
