Home » elearningMatters » This Week’s eLearning Spotlight is on Extending Storyline 360
August 16, 2023 by Richard

Get ready to up your Storyline game! I’ve curated three killer resources that might just change your e-learning life. Well, maybe not that drastic, but if you are on a quest for ways to extend Storyline 360, I think you will find these useful. Let’s shed some light on what I found this week in no particular order.

Spotlight #1: Project 99 by Zsolt Olah

If you are looking to up your JavaScript game and extend what Storyline can do, look no further than Project 99. This live document, which started in 2019, contains 99 JavaScript ideas from fellow Articulate MVP Zsolt Olah. Although Zsolt’s original idea was to publish this as an ebook, he built it as a live document in Articulate Rise. In addition to the Project 99 resource, you might find his articles, Storyline eLearning TechTalk for Beginners, Part 1, and Part 2, very useful.

Spotlight #2: Enhanced Storyline 360 Animations by Jeff Blatt

If you have ever wanted to go beyond the standard animations available in Storyline 360, you’ll find this video from the Learning Dojo very useful. Jeff Blatt has a wonderful selection of videos to choose from. I am spotlighting the Enhancing Your Articulate Storyline 360 Animations Using Greensock for this week’s post. The Greensock Animation Platform (GSAP) is a JavaScript library that allows you to create animations that work across major browsers. What is a JavaScript library you ask? Well, it’s a repository of pre-written JavaScript code that you can use to execute JavaScript tasks without starting from scratch.

Spotlight #3: Build a Chatbot in Articulate Storyline

The folks at Cluelabs provide a step-by-step tutorial on Building a Chatbot in Storyline. Of course, to add this extension, you’ll need to sign up for a free account and use their AI Chatbot widget. They also offer several examples in which a chatbot can extend your Storyline course. For example, you could have a chatbot act as a patient who responds to your questions, answer questions about your company’s employee benefits, and more. If you have never created a chatbot with Storyline 360, Cluelabs makes it easy to do in this tutorial.

Conclusion

I hope you found these resources useful! Your experiences, insights, and discoveries matter too. Have you stumbled upon a hidden gem? Share your findings with me in the comments below! I’m eager to hear about the tools, tips, and tricks that make your e-learning endeavors extraordinary. In the meantime, if you are struggling with a specific Storyline or course development issue, check out my blog articles. I’m always posting “How To” videos that help address common and not-so-common challenges you encounter with Storyline 360.
